Residential Services New Home Wiring & Construction
Building a new home is one of the biggest investments you'll ever make. The electrical system is what brings it to life — and what keeps your family safe inside it for the next 40, 50, or 80 years. At RD Electric, we've wired hundreds of new homes across the Lewis-Clark Valley, and we treat every one of them like we'd treat our own.
Working with builders, GCs, and homeowners across the LC Valley
Whether you're a general contractor wiring a production home, a custom builder running point on a one-of-a-kind project, or a homeowner acting as your own GC, RD Electric brings the experience to keep your job on schedule. We've worked alongside most of the major builders in the valley, and we know how to coordinate with framers, plumbers, HVAC, and inspectors so the electrical phase doesn't become the bottleneck.
What's included in a new home wiring job
Every new home is different, but our scope typically includes:
- Service entrance, meter base, and main panel installation (200A standard, 400A available)
- Complete rough-in: receptacles, switches, lighting circuits, dedicated appliance circuits
- Code-required AFCI and GFCI protection throughout
- Smoke and CO detector wiring (interconnected, hardwired with battery backup)
- Bath fan and ventilation wiring
- HVAC, water heater, and major appliance circuits
- Exterior outlets, security lighting, and landscape lighting
- Final trim: device installation, fixture hanging, panel labeling, and testing
- Walk-through and final inspection coordination
Plan ahead for the things you'll wish you had later
The best time to add an outlet, a circuit, or a smart device is before the drywall goes up. We'll sit down with you during the rough-in walk-through and ask the questions most builders forget to ask. A few things worth thinking about:
- Future EV charger circuit in the garage (even if you don't have an EV yet)
- Dedicated office or work-from-home circuits with USB outlets
- Outdoor receptacles for holiday lighting, pumps, or a future hot tub
- Whole-house surge protection at the panel
- Generator inlet and transfer switch for backup power
- Structured wiring (Cat6, coax) for hardwired internet
- Smart home prep — Vantage, Lutron, or other automation systems
- Under-cabinet, toe-kick, and accent lighting in the kitchen
- Bathroom and closet outlets in convenient locations
We'll walk through every room with you and show you exactly what's planned. If you want to add or change something, that's the time to do it — and it costs a fraction of what it would cost to retrofit later.
Honest pricing and a fair bid
We give every new construction job a written, itemized estimate before any work begins. No surprises, no markup tricks, no "we found something else we need to charge for." If the scope changes mid-project, we tell you up front and get sign-off before the change order goes through. That's how we want to be treated, and it's how we treat our customers.
Licensed in Idaho and Washington
RD Electric is fully licensed and insured in both states, with experience pulling permits and passing inspection on both sides of the river. Our journeymen work alongside our apprentices on every job — meaning you get experienced supervision and a fair price.
